Rock Star Dust Light is the seventh Jamiroquai album recorded in the studio and comes after 5 years of silence the band's record. The publication date in the UK is1 November 2010 with the new label Mercury, Universal Music Group, and is produced by Jason Kay with Charlie Russell and Brad Spence, their first collaboration.

The album release is preceded by a clear presentation: while the general trend is to create music using mainly electronics, choose to adopt the Jamiroquai sound more "classic", seeking sounds more genuine.

The whole disc was recorded live. It 's a disc made by a real band. The last album was fantastic, but everything has become a bit 'sterile. This time we managed to capture the energy of our live performances.

The album was recorded mainly in Jay Kay's home studio in Buckinghamshire, all'Hook End Manor in Oxfordshire, and at Karma Studios in Thailand. The pieces have been written entirely by Jay Kay with the help of members of the band.

The album release is anticipated by piece White Knuckle Ride, arising from the experiences of the past record of Jay Kay and which explicitly refers to the pressure he received from the old label, Sony. About this track Jay said:

The song evolved over a period of time. But words, for most, were written in 15-20 minutes. The song is a warning: be careful what you wish for.

The first single from the album is Blue Skies, a ballad from exotic, published the same day of release of (1 November 2010). The Video of both pieces were filmed by director Howard Greenhalgh Almeria, Southern Spain.
