Rock Star Dust Light is the seventh Jamiroquai album recorded in the studio and comes after 5 years of silence the band's record. The album was recorded mainly in Jay Kay's home studio in Buckinghamshire, all'Hook End Manor in Oxfordshire, and at Karma Studios in Thailand. The pieces have been written entirely by Jay Kay with the help of members of the band.
The album release is anticipated by piece White Knuckle Ride, arising from the experiences of the past record of Jay Kay and which explicitly refers to the pressure he received from the old label, Sony. About this track Jay said:
The song evolved over a period of time. But words, for most, were written in 15-20 minutes. The song is a warning: be careful what you wish for.
The first single from the album is Blue Skies, a ballad from exotic, published the same day of release of (1 November 2010). The Video of both pieces were filmed by director Howard Greenhalgh Almeria, Southern Spain.
